What Investor Type Do I Self-Certify As?

Contributor: Kieran King

Investing

So you've decided you want to invest with 360Equity. You go to www.360equity.co, create your account, sign in, and try to invest. However before you can invest you are hit with a page asking you to complete your profile and ‘self-certify’ as an investor. This is really important as it tells us your level of experience in investing.

You will need to choose from three options:

Option 1: Everyday Investors

Also known as ‘Restricted Investors’. You are limited to investing 10% of your wealth and have a maximum investment limit of £2,000. This level is suitable for most individuals. See full statement here.

If you self-certify as an everyday investor, you will need to complete a short questionnaire to see if investing is suitable for you. This is a small test designed to test you mostly on your understanding of the risks associated with investing in private companies.

Option 2: Sophisticated Investors

You are an individual experienced in investing into unquoted companies. Being a sophisticated investor means you have invested in more than one unlisted companies, been a director of a company with an annual turnover of at least £1m, worked in private equity in the last two years or have been a member of a business angels network for at least the last 6 months. See full statement here.

Option 3: High Net Worth Investors

You are a high earner or a wealthy individual. By this we mean you have a net income in excess of £100,000 and you have net assets in excess of £250,000 beyond your pension fund assets and your private residence. See full statement here.

Final Word

Once certified this will show on your investor records with us the date and type of certification you have chosen. Your certification will need to be updated on a yearly basis and we will let you know when that time comes. You can choose to re-certify at any time by reaching out to our support team.

If you are unsure about any of the above please do get in touch with us at support@360equity.co.

Remember, when investing your capital is at risk.
